The clip will be shared with the donor who funded the award you received and may be stored and used by External Relations for stewardship and archival purposes.
- What to share (and not share): Only include personal details you are comfortable disclosing. Do not identify other students, minors, or anyone who has not given explicit permission to appear.

Recording Tips
- Use ThankView on desktop or mobile, or upload an MP4/MOV recorded elsewhere.
- Film horizontally so the frame fills on most devices.
- Stabilize your phone with a tripod or stack of books; avoid handheld shaking.
- Sound matters: keep the mic 3–4 ft (1 m) from you, away from traffic or wind.
- Lighting: face a window or soft light source; avoid bright back-lighting.
- Location: choose a space donors might recognize (campus, lab, studio).
- Framing: eye level is most flattering—avoid angles from far below.
- Wardrobe: solid, mid-tone colours read best on camera; steer clear of neon.
Content Tips
- Length: 30–60 seconds keeps viewers engaged.
- Open with gratitude: “Hello, my name is … Thank you for funding the [Award Name].”
- Share impact: one or two sentences on how the award helped (tuition, research, time to volunteer, etc.).
Add a personal touch: why you chose ULethbridge, a memorable course, or a future goal.- Close warmly: “Thank you again for your generosity.”
- Be yourself & have fun! Authenticity resonates more than perfect delivery.
After recording and uploading your video, our team will review for clarity and FOIP compliance before forwarding your message to the donor.
